Mit Klang und Schall - ENTWAFFNET RHEINMETALL! 
Ankündigung einer Musikblockade von Rheinmetall Unterlüß am 17. August
2020, „Vorkonzert" am 15. August 2020

Am Samstag, 15. August und Montag, 17. August, veranstaltet das
bundesweite Netzwerk LEBENSLAUTE mit 90 Musikerinnen und Musikern zwei
große Konzerte in Unterlüß. Die öffentliche Generalprobe in Form eines
Vor-Konzerts findet am 15. August um 18 Uhr im Bürgerpark statt, das
Aktionskonzert am 17. August um 11 Uhr am Haupteingang des Werks
Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH (Neuensothriether Straße). „Mit Klang und
Schall -ENTWAFFNET RHEINMETALL" lautet das Motto, unter dem sich
Lebenslaute gegen Deutschlands größten Waffen-und Rüstungsproduzenten
wendet und damit die Kampagne „Rheinmetall entwaffnen" unterstützt.
Lebenslaute verbindet klassische Musik mit Aktionen des Zivilen
Ungehorsams - und kündigt neben dem Aktionskonzert auch eine Blockade
der Waffenschmiede an. 

75 Jahre nach der Befreiung vom Faschismus, 75 Jahre im Gedenken an die
Opfer der Atombomben von Hiroshima und Nagasaki steigen in Deutschland
Rüstungsausgaben, Waffenproduktion und -export ungebremst. Das Geschäft
mit dem Tod boomt. Die Etablierung der EU als militärische Großmacht im
Rahmen von PESCO bietet Rheinmetall ungeahnte Gewinne. In Unterlüß
stellt „Rheinmetall Defence" Waffen und Munition her und betreibt
Europas größtes privates Erprobungszentrum für Waffensysteme. Dürfen
Waffen aufgrund von Exportbeschränkungen nicht direkt in Kriegsgebiete
wie Saudi Arabien/Jemen verkauft werden, exportiert Rheinmetall ganze
Fabriken oder wickelt Geschäfte über seine Niederlassungen im Ausland
ab. „Krieg beginnt auch in Unterlüß. Doch Rüstung, Militär und Krieg
löschen nicht nur Leben aus, sondern heizen die Klimakatastrophe
dramatisch an", so Pressessprecher Andreas Will, der Lebenslaute auch
als Teil der Bewegung für Klimagerechtigkeit und freie Migration
darstellt. 

„Mit unserer Konzertaktion sind wir hier in Unterlüß genau richtig.
Rheinmetall mit seinem Konzernsitz in Düsseldorf, über 30 deutschen
Standorten der Militärsparte Defence und weiteren zahlreichen
Niederlassungen und Tochterfirmen in der ganzen Welt ist für
erfolgreichen Protest schwer zu fassen. Hinzu kommt, dass unsere
Gesellschaft mit der Waffenproduktion Rheinmetalls eng verstrickt ist:
Sparer durch direktes oder indirektes Halten von Aktien, über Fonds und
Banken wie Deka Investment der Sparkassengruppe oder der Deutschen Bank;
Arbeitende, weil sie ökonomisch abhängig sind; Kommunen als Nutznießer
hoher Gewerbesteuern und Spenden. Auch Politik und Parteien räumen auf
nationaler und europäischer Ebene den Weg für Waffenproduzenten frei.
Umso wichtiger ist es für uns, in Aktion zu kommen, direkt zu
intervenieren, hier. Wir wollen und werden Sand im Getriebe sein. Als
Teil der globalen antimilitaristischen und Friedensbewegung brauchen wir
einen langen Atem - den haben wir", ergänzt Pressesprecherin Cornelia
Weigel. 

LEBENSLAUTE ist ein bundesweites Netzwerk von Musikaktivist*innen, Laien
und Profis, die klassische Musik an Orten aufführen, von denen Bedrohung

„With Cymbals and Chimes - Disarm Rheinmetall!"
Announcing a musical blockade of „Rheinmetall Unterlüß" on 17 August
2020 with pre-concert on 15 August 2020

On Saturday, 15 August and Monday, 17 August, the nationwide network
LEBENSLAUTE with its ninety musicians will present two concerts in
Unterluess (Lower Saxony). A final rehearsal open to the public will
take place on 15 August at 18h at the Buergerpark in Unterluess; The
Concert Demo itself is scheduled for 17 August at 11h at the main
entrance of the „Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH" production area in the
Neuensothrieder Strasse.
„With Cymbals and Chimes - Disarm Rheinmetall!" is the motto with which
Lebenslaute is confronting Germany's largest armaments producer,
offering support to the long-running campaign „Entwaffnet [Disarm]
Rheinmetall". 
LEBENSLAUTE unites classical music with acts of civil disobedience and,
in addition to the Demo Concert mentioned above, would like to announce
a musical blockade of the arms makers themselves.

75 years have passed since the liberation from fascism, 75 years spent
recalling the bomb victims of Hiroshima and Nagasaki: and yet in Germany
we see a seemingly limitless rise in arms budgets, weapons production
and sales. The death business is booming! Establishing the European
Union as a major military power within the PESCO framework has created
previously unimagined profit opportunities for Rheinmetall. At its
Unterluess locations, Rheinmetall produces defence weapons and
ammunition, and runs Europe's largest private arms testing site. 
When export regulations forbid sales directly into war zones such as
Saudi Arabia / Yemen, Rheinmetall exports entire factories or does
business through one of its foreign branches. Press speaker Andreas
Will: „war starts in Unterlüß too! Weapons and military escalation
destroy not only life, they dramatically intensify the climate
catastrophe". He sees LEBENSLAUTE as part of the movement for climate
justice and free migration. 

„Unterlüß is the ideal spot for this year's Demo Concert, although, with
its corporate base in Düsseldorf, more than thirty German locations
devoted to military defence, plus numerous branches and subsidiaries
worldwide, Rheinmetall is quite difficult to approach as an object of
successful protest. In addition, Germany's national economy is
intimately tied up with Rheinmetall's arms production. Savers with
direct or indirect stock holdings and funds, such as the 'Deka
Investment Bank' or the 'Deutsche Bank', are involved. Employees of
Rheinmetall are financially dependent, as are all those who are part of
the production chain. Communities benefit from corporate taxes and
donations. Politics pave the way for arms producers on the national and
European levels. All the more important that we be here to intervene! We
want to be the sand in the gearbox. As part of the global antimilitarist
and peace movement, we need a long breath, which we have!", says press
speaker Cornelia Weigel.

LEBENSLAUTE is a nationwide network of music activists - amateurs and
