[Trennmuster] hyph-de – welche Datei brauch ich wirklich (aktuell)?

Oh, I thought they had been part of hyph-utf8 as well, named
hyph-de-1901.tex, which you suggested for grep.  I've now found
conventional patterns in

  texlive\2013\texmf-dist\tex\generic\hyphen

with their conventional names.  So I seem to recall wrongly.  Or did
these files move?

And, what is the difference between patterns in

  texlive\2013\texmf-dist\tex\generic\hyph-utf8\patterns\tex

and

  texlive\2013\texmf-dist\tex\generic\hyph-utf8\patterns\txt

Both seem to be in UTF-8.  Why two flavours?
