[smartmontools-support] SAS drives output

Hi all

I manage a lot of machines and many of them run SATA drives. On these, smartctl -M gives me quite a lot of info, which is nice [1]. With SAS, however, its the amount of data available is a lot less [2]. smartct -a and -x obviously are more verbose, but it doesn't look like there's a lot of more info there regarding disk health except the 'overall disk health' which IMHO usually shows OK most of the time anyway until a disk fails (or perhaps changes its mind minutes/hours before this happens)

It's just strange - I would have thought SAS, being faster, better, more expensive et cetera et cetera ad infinitum, would also deliver the same amount of data over SMART or similar, but it doesn't look like that. Does SAS have an alternate method of reading this out or is the data actually omitted or concealed?

See above for output. The drives shown are both attached to a 24 bay supermicro server, with two internal 2,5" bays for root drives and an extra 24 bay controller on SAS for more storage.
