Hello,
I just bought a disk, and its smartctl -x output starts like this:
smartctl 7.0 2018-12-30 r4883 [NetBSD 8.1 amd64] (local build)

Device Model: WDC WD100EFAX-68LHPN0
Serial Number: xxxxxxxx
LU WWN Device Id: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Firmware Version: 83.H0A83
User Capacity: 10,000,831,348,736 bytes [10.0 TB]
I don't agree with the "[10.0 TB]" at the end of the last line I quoted.
Calling this disk 10 TB is a lie that the drive manufacturers like to
perpetrate, but that does not mean that we IT specialists need to go
along with it. This disk is plain and simple only 9.095 TB large (9314
GB).
I would like to see the real number of mega/giga/terabytes there, not
the fantasy value (aka lie) that the manufacturer likes to use.
