I have followed this thread and like your idea. I would be an early
adopter.
The initial drive temp reporting is also a good idea IMHO. The user would
not be able to ask for the temp while the system is booting, without
adding an init script. Of course, the same is true of the CPU and GPU, but
they have their own dedicated fans that can be visually inspected.
