Thanks for your time and help Christian!

Ran `sudo smartctl -x /dev/sda` and piped the output to the attached file.
I'm trying to update the SSD's firmware, but I'm running into some
problems. Downloaded Intel SSD Firmware Update Tool[0] and verified the
downloaded file with the MD5 sum. After that I wrote the image to a USB
drive with Etcher. Etcher verifies that the everything went OK while
writing the disk.
The latest version of Intel's firmware is 3.0.1 and was released on
2018-03-29. I got the SSD some years back and I've never updated the
firmware myself.
Choose legacy mode with CSM support as default and controlled that
Secure boot is disabled, as specified in the user guide[1]. But when I
run the update tool it says "The selected Intel SSD contains current
firmware as of this tool release". Does this mean that there's no new
update for the SSD? English is my second language so I'm unsure. Feels
weird that they haven't released a new version if there's an issue with
SMART tests on the drive.
It seems that several sections of the guide is missing. E.g. in section
4.0 they refer to section 4.2 for instructions for writing the ISO to a
USB drive on Linux, but there's no such section (only 4.0).
Thanks again for your help!
Regards,
Albin
