Hi,
I'd like to report a new USB device
$sudo smartctl -a /dev/sdb
smartctl 6.6 2017-11-05 r4594 [x86_64-linux-4.20.5-200.fc29.x86_64]
(local build)
Copyright (C) 2002-17, Bruce Allen, Christian Franke, www.smartmontools.org
/dev/sdb: Unknown USB bridge [0x2109:0x0716 (0x000)]
Please specify device type with the -d option.
The detailed output of
$sudo lsusb -v -d 02109:0716
is attached. The device is a RaidSonic ICY BOX IB-287-C31 USB 3.1 HDD
enclosure.
The chip on the circuit is VIA VL716
https://www.via-labs.com/product_show.php?id=68
This also agrees with the statement of the manufacturer from the German
Amazon website
https://www.amazon.de/ICY-BOX-Externes-wasserdicht-integriertes/dp/B07DCM15PL
It seems that S.M.A.R.T works fine with the "-d sat" option
$sudo smartctl -d sat -a /dev/sdb
Cheers,
Vladyslav
