Danke! Also so ganz falsch lag ich ja auch nicht. Natürlich gehört der 
Benutzer cyrus mit Passwort in die sql Tabelle. Nichts da mit 
saslpasswd. Ich muss bloss vor den sql Parametern ein sasl_ 
vorschreiben. Hast Du mir ja auch geschrieben und hab ich im Internet 
auch endlich gefunden. Die einzige Anpassung, die ich machen musste 
währen die Zeilen:

sasl_sql_select: SELECT %p FROM users WHERE username = '%u' AND auth = '1'
sasl_mech_list: PLAIN LOGIN CRAM-MD5 DIGEST-MD5

Somit sieht meine imap.conf unter Debian so aus:

Das einzige was mich zur Zeit stört ist. Mein Rechner heisst test. Hat 
das "test" hier was zu bedeuten:

Mit der Zeile kann ich noch ichts anfangen:

Jan  4 16:10:48 test cyrus/imapd[1339]: sql query failed: Unknown column 
'cmusaslsecretDIGEST' in 'field list'

Die Felder der sql Tabelle sind wie im Buch:

id,username,userealm,userpassword,auth
