Yes,good remark from Kiell. What do we understand by Europe? 
Politically, the EU has something (EU Parlement). The Council of Europe (47 countries) too. Russia and Turkey have joined it
so this widens the limits of Europe,doesn't it ?
  
What would be the minimal programme platform of EL sympathisers ?
In Belgium,I gave a definition : all that we enjoyed, as members of the working class or as simple citizens before the fall
of the Berlin Wall and that we have lost ever since. By "We" I mean
the countries which were already  in the CEE (EU ever since).
It seemed to have a majority at a meeting of "Pour une autre Gauche"
(For an other Left) within the Belgian context. 
 
Another evaluation could be done for the other countries. When I talk with different people around me this seems to be a reasonable base.
I am not a "laudator temporis acti" (praiser of the Past), mind you,but ,nevertheless,I should like an objective study about it.
