Hi members of the mailing list and the yahoo group,

I'd like to reply to some of your ideas in the recent discussion within the yahoo group
and mailing list.
Polling inside the yahoo group first sounded like a splendid idea, but I see the same problem
about the yahoo group as a means of communication and elections as do Mike, Joseph and
Francis: It's difficult to enter. After some weeks only 10 percent of us have managed to join.
We should rather think about ways how to get the 500 Italians actively involved in discussion and
activities and finally elections (hello Leonardo, can you hear us??).

I also share the concerns about an unrestricted access. Jose, can anyone - even a complete stranger -
find us on the internet and join just like that. If we don't the people, who knows whether they are
friends or not. Up to now Martin in the Brussels office has made sure that almost all of us are members,
which is nice if we talk about planned activities, confidential stuff, strategies, our perspectives, our views etc.

I would say, since we now have two options for electronic elections we can assume that the one or the other
will work somehow and everything else can be discussed as soon as the Congress 2007 has approved our
motion. We are actually talking about delegation to the Congress 2008 or 09.

I think Mike is right in saying that we need more members. Knowing that the French Communist PArty opposed
individual membership in 2004 as a threat to its own existence, I am not sure if they will now tolerate the EL
funding a membership campaign for individual members in France. We could try it though.
Joseph, our French anchorman, what do you think about it?
Generally, all these things (financing and planning OUR activities) would be easier if we had our own budget.
I think we will have to have discussion about this in a few months while growing (hopefully).

Looking forward to Francis' provocative contribution (please share it with all on the mailing list)

Regards

Uli
