Greetings from Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC)



BNNRC’s approach to media development is both knowledge-driven and
context-sensitive. It considers the challenges and opportunities created by
Bangladesh's rapidly changing media environment, including community radio
development giving voices to the voiceless. BNNRC is in Special
Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)
accredited with World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), SDGs Media
Compact of the United Nations and UN WSIS prize winner 2016, Champion 2017,
2019, 2020 & 2021 for media development and ICT4D.



We have the pleasure to inform you that, the UN World Summit on the
Information Society Forum Prizes 2022 (WSIS Prizes 2022) Geneva,
Switzerland has selected BNNRC’s three initiatives supported by Switzerland
under the project of Connecting and Empowering Voices for Just, Inclusive
and Peaceful Society for the voting process!



The three initiatives are as follows.

*Category 4 — AL C4. Capacity building*

*Empowering Youth and Youth Women through Digital Literacy* under the
project of Connecting and Empowering Voices for Just, Inclusive and
Peaceful Society supported by Switzerland.



*Category 10 — AL C7. ICT applications: benefits in all aspects of life*

*Engage Youth and Youth women through social media for the Employment
generation *under the project of Connecting and Empowering Voices for Just,
Inclusive and Peaceful Society supported by Switzerland.



*Category 16 — AL C9. Media*

*Fighting against Misinformation, Disinformation and Mal-information
through Community Radio in Bangladesh *under the project of Connecting and
Empowering Voices for Just, Inclusive and Peaceful Society supported by
Switzerland.



Now Voting Phase is going on. Phase III provides an online mechanism for
all WSIS stakeholders to participate in the contest of WSIS Prizes. The
WSIS multi-stakeholder community is invited to participate and cast its
vote for one project in each of 18 categories.



The deadline for completing votes is 31 March 2022 (23:00 Geneva time). The
first five most voted projects will be selected based on the
appreciation/voting for project descriptions by WSIS stakeholders
representing the WSIS online network. The rules for voting should be
strictly respected.

The seventh World Summit on the Information Society Forum 2022 represents
the world's largest annual gathering of the ICT for development (ICT4D)
community and is scheduled to be held starting on 15 March with the final
week that will be held on 30 May – 3 June 2022 with the theme of ICTs for
Well-Being, Inclusion and Resilience: WSIS Cooperation for Accelerating
Progress on the SDGs.



The WSIS Forum, co-organized by ITU, UNESCO, UNDP and UNCTAD, in close
collaboration with all WSIS Action Line Facilitators/Co-Facilitators, has
proven to be an efficient mechanism for coordination of multi-stakeholder
implementation activities, information exchange, creation of knowledge,
sharing of best practices and continues to assist in developing
multi-stakeholder and public/private partnerships to advance development
goals.
