Liebe Kolleg*innen und Kollegen,

unser Graduiertenkolleg "MEDAS 21" neigt sich nach vier Jahren als Förderprojekt langsam dem Ende zu und deshalb planen wir gerade einen gebührenden Abschluss. Für den öffentlichen Teil unserer Abschluss-Veranstaltung mit dem Titel "The future of international media development" am 24. Juni im Erich-Brost-Institut in Dortmund sind noch Restplätze frei!

Zusammen mit Wegbegleitern aus Wissenschaft und Praxis, unseren Praxispartnern (Deutsche Welle Akademie, MiCT, CAMECO etc.) und einer interessierten Öffentlichkeit würden wir an dem Tag gerne Bilanz aus vier Jahren Forschung zu Medienentwicklungszusammenarbeit ziehen. Fragen, die wir aufwerfen wollen, sind u.a.:  Wie können lokales und Kontext- Wissen bei der internationalen MEZ stärker in den Mittelpunkt rücken? Welche Bedeutung haben postkoloniale und Post-Development Perspektiven für die internationale MEZ? Was können der (Medien-)Entwicklungssektor und die Wissenschaft in Bezug auf innovative und valide Datenerhebungsmethoden voneinander lernen? Unser Programm hänge ich Euch an. Das Programm hängt an!


Wie Ihr seht, gibt es tagsüber verschiedene Sessions, zu denen wir interessante Speaker akquirieren konnten (z.B. Levi Obonyo, Lassané Yaméogo, Bruce Mutsvairo, Suzanne Temwa Gondwe Harris, Guntram Wolff...). Ab dem Abend soll sich die Veranstaltung dann eine Poster-Galerie verwandeln, die hoffentlich bei Finger Food und Getränken zu angeregten Gesprächen führt.


Die Doktorand*innen und ich würden uns freuen, wenn der eine oder die andere von Euch noch zu uns stößt!

Dear colleagues,


After four years as a funded project, our graduate school MEDAS 21 is slowly coming to an end and we are therefore planning a suitable good-bye. This will take place in the form of a symposium themed "The future of intenational media development" on 24 June at the Erich Brost Institute in Dortmund, for which we have a few free spots available!

Together with companions from science and practice, our practice partners (Deutsche Welle Akademie, MiCT, CAMECO, etc.) students and an interested public, we would like to take stock of four years of research on Media Development Cooperation. Questions we want to raise include: How can local and contextual knowledge become more central to media assistance? What is the relevance of post-colonial and post-development perspectives for international media development? What can the (media) development sector and academia learn from each other in terms of innovative and valid data collection methods? Please find the programme attached.

As you can see, there are several sessions during the day for which we managed to get great speakers (e.g. Levi Obonyo, Lassané Yaméogo, Bruce Mutsvairo, Suzanne Temwa Gondwe Harris, Guntram Wolff...). From the evening onwards, the event will then turn into a poster gallery, hopefully leading to lively conversations over finger food and drinks. The posters will showcase MEDAS 21 research projects.


The PhD students and I would be thrilled if a few more of you would be able to join us!
