DW Akademie invites an independent expert trainer/consultant to join us under a framework contract and help implement a long-term project in the field of Media Self-Regulation, Media Policies and Governance in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
TRAINER/CONSULTANT on MEDIA SELF-REGULATION
Location: Remote work a possibility; Germany/EU-based preferred
Time commitment: Flexible, 2-3 days per month on average for 12 months, with the possibility of extending.

Introduction:
DW Akademie is Germany's leading organization for international media development, and Deutsche Welle's center of excellence for training and knowledge transfer. Together with our partners, we play a leading role in the development of free media systems, fostering access to information and setting standards for independent journalism and journalism education.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
Assignments may include but are not limited to the following:
Consulting and training of honorary members and employed executive and secretarial staff of the Media Council of Mongolia (MCM).
Monitoring and Evaluation of complaint administration and complaint decisions of the Media Council.
Consulting of MCM’s public relations activities and contributing informational content for purposes of internal and external communication.
Contributing to an advocacy strategy for media independence and Media Self-Regulation in Mongolia.
Building and maintaining close links with relevant stakeholders in Mongolia (i.e. sector associations, legal and political experts and decision makers).
Administration
Engaging in DW Akademie’s strategic planning process, especially with developing a quality management (QM) scheme for MCM.
Contribute to grant applications and reporting, as well as DW Akademie’s annual reporting.
Participate in regular calls with DW Akademie staff.
Other duties as required.
What we’re looking for
10 or more years of experience in structural analysis and/or practice of institutionalized media self-regulation.
Profound knowledge and understanding of state-regulated and/or co-regulated media systems.
Excellent interpersonal, relationship building, verbal, and written communication skills.
Flexibility and ability to respond to short-term demands.
Ability to work autonomously.
Excellent command of spoken and written German or English.
Willingness to travel as required (after COVID-19 restrictions ease).
What would give you an advantage
A background in journalism, association work or media-related representation of interests will be considered an advantage.
Basic skills of the Mongolian language.
