Dear colleagues,

As waves of change and awareness continue to break into our sector,
#Globaldev Communicators Connect is back this month to support you in
changing *#globaldev **narratives.* This is your ‘brave space’ where you
can talk openly about everyday dilemmas at work + reimagining
communications in the aid and philanthropy sector.

This month's special guest is Moky Makura
<https://conference.africanpf.org/speakers/moky-makura/>, Executive
Director of Africa No Filte <https://africanofilter.org/>r
<https://africanofilter.org/>, whose mantra is *'until the lions have their
own historians, the history of the hunt will always glorify the
hunter.'* Africa
No Filter is a funder collaborative which amplifies pan-African voices and
challenges stereotypical narratives about and within the continent.

The details of our second connect are:

*Date: 11 November 2020 (Wednesday)*

*Time: 10 - 11am EST / 4 - 5pm CEST / 7:30 - 8:30pm IST*
*Register here: *

you are not already a member.)

#GlobalDev Communicators Connect
<https://collective.healingsolidarity.org/events/globaldev-communicators-connect?instance_index=20201014T140000Z>'
is a monthly meeting in the Healing Solidarity Collective
<https://collective.healingsolidarity.org/feed>, co-hosted by Jennifer

 and Joan Okitoi

, to support people responsible for external communications AND other those
working in programs in international aid and philanthropy to connect to
each other and reconnect to the creativity needed for our work. In case you
missed our first conversation in October with Deepa Ranganathan
<https://youngfeministfund.org/people/deepa-ranganathan/> and Maame Akua
Kyerewaa Marfo
<https://youngfeministfund.org/people/maame-akua-kyerewaa-marfo/> of the Frida
Fund <https://youngfeministfund.org/>, here is a link
<https://collective.healingsolidarity.org/posts/recording-of-globaldev-communicators-connect-october>to
that conversation.

Where and when can we take more “risks” to ignite/invite change in how our
organizations communicate about our work? Let’s invite the uneasy
conversations. We can more effectively speak up against and amidst
injustices of "poverty porn" and misrepresentation when we can rely on a
community to support us.

Will you join us?

Joan
