OSCE’s new Representative on Freedom of the Media, Harlem Désir is 
giving the opening statement. After the keynote there’s a panel of media 
workers talking about severe threats they experience on a daily basis. 
We follow it with a discussion on the latest developments on 
whistleblower protection. We will present different ways to protect 
journalists, from psychotherapy to safe houses. Finally EU 
politicians debate the next political steps that are necessary to 
improve the situation.

In co-operation with Engagement Global Leipzig

very pleased to invite you to an *evening reception *after the 
conference. Here we look beyond Europe, taking a global development 
policy perspective: after enjoying drinks and snacks you can learn about 
the daily challenges and threats facing journalists in Afghanistan with 
Tolo TV correspondent Shakeela Ibrahimkhil who fled to Germany. (Please
