To set up and manage its new project in Erbil Media in Cooperation and Transition (MICT) is currently recruiting for the following positions:

•Team Leader/ Project Manager for the set-up and steering of a training institute for the  media and public communication professions in Iraq 

•Senior Expert for the management of a training institute for the media and public communication professions, and

•Junior Expert to assist the Team Leader/ Project Manager during the implementation.

MICT - Media in Cooperation and Transition is a Berlin based media development organisation that implements projects in the Middle East, Africa, and Afghanistan. Activities focus on the interplay between conflict, media coverage and reconciliation in crisis regions. MICT's services comprise the training of journalists and media producers, program and content development, production of radio programs, films and books, as well as media research and monitoring in conflict zones.

The Media Academy Iraq is a new project by MICT. It will be established in Erbil as an Iraqi institution that sets for itself the aim to enhance the quality of media reporting in Iraq. The Academy will offer courses in journalism, PR, and media management that will be delivered at media outlets all across the country as well as at the Academy itself. Iraqi trainers will be in charge of the training process. The Academy will be managed in cooperation with Iraqi partners.

For this new project, MICT is seeking to appoint a Team Leader/ Project Manager as well as a Senior and a Junior Expert.

Profile Team Leader/Project Manager
(Full-time December 2010 until November 2011/ Part-time from December 2011 until September 2012)
•Experience in managing overseas development projects as Team Leader including the responsibility to manage short-term experts and consultants
•Background in journalism training in developing countries, preferably in Iraq or the region
•Fluency in English; German, Arabic and Kurdish is an asset
•Sound knowledge of history, politics, and media / journalism in Iraq/ the Middle East
•Ability to work and live in Erbil (Kurdistan)

Senior Expert
(Full-time December 2010 until September 2012)
•Experience in developing and managing institutions of professional training (preferably in the media field)
•Fluency in English; Arabic or Kurdish is an asset
•Sound knowledge of history, politics, and media / journalism in Iraq/ the Middle East
•Ability to work and live in Erbil (Kurdistan)

Junior Expert
(Full-time December 2010 until December 2011)
•Background in journalism and media
•Working experience in Iraq/ the Middle East
•Fluency in English; Arabic or Kurdish is an asset
•Sound knowledge of history, politics, and media / journalism in Iraq/ the Middle East
•Ability to work and live in Erbil (Kurdistan)
