These happen to be Samsung drives, but I've also seen it happen with
WD and Kingston.

I just tried booting to SystemRescue Live CD 9.03 and it is unable
to get data from the SSD either. So I'm assuming some Acers (not
all, since your's works) are blocking SmartMonTools from reading
SMART. But since the WD tool can read SMART, I'm pretty sure
there's a work around. I'm just wondering if anyone is interested
in helping find it (I can't do the programming, but I can do the
testing).
It's probably an older nvme drive.

Maybe dmesg can ID the drive that doesn't work.

I think the nvme driver is in the kernel so maybe try a later

Any suggestions on how to get this information? As I
mentioned, I see a lot of Acers, so I'm happy to do testing on
this end if that helps.
