Thanks for the report. I could not reproduce this and do not remember 
any similar report.

Are the above smartctl binaries from a Linux distribution or build locally?

If possible, please try whether the problem persists if:

- smartctl from a recent CI build is used:
https://github.com/smartmontools/smartmontools-builds/releases

- smartctl 7.4 and 7.5 are rebuild without optimization:
./configure CXXFLAGS=-g
