Hello experts,
I am looking for SMART tests support for "Broadcom MegaRAID 9670W-16i Tri-Mode Storage" Adapter, for each drive.
I've been working on megaraid driver based controller, in which it was possible to launch the SMART test per each drive.
> smartctl --test=short --device=megaraid,2 /dev/sda
smartctl 5.40 2010-10-16 r3189 [i686-redhat-linux-gnu] (local build)
Copyright (C) 2002-10 by Bruce Allen, http://smartmontools.sourceforge.net
/dev/sda [megaraid_disk_02] [SAT]: Device open changed type from 'megaraid' to 'sat'
=== START OF OFFLINE IMMEDIATE AND SELF-TEST SECTION ===
Sending command: "Execute SMART Short self-test routine immediately in off-line mode".
Drive command "Execute SMART Short self-test routine immediately in off-line mode" successful.
Testing has begun.
Please wait 1 minutes for test to complete.
Test will complete after Sun Aug 4 12:12:18 2024
Use smartctl -X to abort test.
Is it possible to do the same with the above RAID controller of Broadcom?
Note that this controller is using mpi3mr kernel driver, and I could not find any reference in the source code to this kernel driver.
I was just able to issue the following command, but this is not specific per each drive.
> smartctl --test=short /dev/sda
smartctl 7.0 2018-12-30 r4883 [x86_64-linux-4.18.0-372.9.1cpx86_64] (local build)

Short Background Self Test has begun
Use smartctl -X to abort test
Thanks,
Yacov
