Note that the ATA ACS-3 spec was the last one specifying the SMART data 
structure. ATA ACS-4 Rev 10 (2015) declared all this as obsolete.

Sorry, no.

I don't remember any similar feature request or any related 
documentation from a drive vendor. There is only this very old comment 
in smartmontools source code:
"Maxtor bytes 508-509 Attribute/Threshold Revision #"

Is there any recent and publicly accessible (e.g. does not require to 
sign a NDA) vendor specific specification available?
