No, nothing, i just grepped for the word "usb", and the only occurrences
are when smartd mentions that disk (and posted in my previous post). And
the other disk, which is mounted (and has similar symptoms), would throw
a big error causing an umount.

I haven't touched that. The "sleep" has to be internal to the disk or
cabinet firmware, not from the computer. It is more or less typical of
external boxes.
The computer is an "MSi Cubi N Mini-PC", fanless, not a laptop or full
desktop, a few years old and running since then.
