Thanks devs for smartmontools! I've benefited from it for many many years.

Question: Does it make any sense for a drive to support self-test but
not self-test log?

I run:

# smartctl -t long /dev/sda
smartctl 6.6 2016-05-31 r4324 [x86_64-linux-4.15.0-38-generic] (local
build)

Sending command: "Execute SMART Extended self-test routine immediately
in off-line mode".
Drive command "Execute SMART Extended self-test routine immediately in
off-line mode" successful.
Testing has begun.
Please wait 48 minutes for test to complete.
Test will complete after Wed Nov 7 16:59:46 2018

Looks good.

# smartctl -l selftest /dev/sda
smartctl 6.6 2016-05-31 r4324 [x86_64-linux-4.15.0-38-generic] (local
build)

SMART Self-test Log not supported

The drive is Corsair Force GT. Smartctl says SMART is enabled...

Happy to put dumps of anything on pastebin.
