The linux-usb.org site simply tries to compile a database mapping from
USB ID to a human-readable device name; it doesn't indicate anything
about how well a device actually works for any particular purpose.

The smartmontools.org Supported_USB-Devices wiki page is the only place
I've found that attempts to document how well specific USB bridge chips
support access to SMART data on the attached hard drive. But new
devices only get added to it if someone happens to submit a report to
the project after trying out out that device, so it's not a very
exhaustive listing.

In particular your drive enclosure (0bc2:331a) isn't currently included,
so the page isn't going to be much help to you at the moment.... but if
you try the workarounds discussed on the SAT-with-UAS-Linux page and
report back, we can add the device to the table so the info is there for
future users.
