Dear Smartmontools developers,
I just got a new USB3 2.5" hard drive enclosure from fantec. The model
is: FANTEC ALU-25C31
The website of the product at the manufacturer's site is:
http://www.fantec.de/produkte/speicherprodukte/festplattengehaeuse/25-zoll-festplattengehaeuse/produkt/details/artikel/1967_fantec_alu_25c31/
smartctl does not recognize the USB bridge:
---
smartctl 6.6 2016-05-31 r4324 [x86_64-linux-4.17.0-1-amd64] (local build)
Copyright (C) 2002-16, Bruce Allen, Christian Franke, www.smartmontools.org
/dev/sdh: Unknown USB bridge [0x2109:0x0715 (0xf100)]
Please specify device type with the -d option.
---
It works with the "-d sat" option.
The output of "lsusb -v -d 0x2109:0x0715" is attached.
I also attached the output of "smartctl -d sat -x /dev/DEVICE".
Thanks for your great work.
Best regards,
Alexis Maldonado
