Hast du schon mal ein testsaslauthd -u username -p password probiert?
Was sagt das bei dir?
Was steht bei dir in der /etc/imapd.conf? Dort muss man soweit ich mich
erinnere angeben welche Verfahren beim Login zugelassen werden.
