May I suggest 2 radical changes to the newsletter:

(1) reduce the stuff that YOU are proud of and which is of little  
relevance to us to a headline and a link to the website
(2) expand announcements so
(2.a) they don't cover the next few weeks only (but the next 9  
months), and
(2.b) you make it totally obvious in what way you wish that the  
members base would get involved
(2.c) if not you don't really need to publish the events, since it  
doesn't mean a thing

so if the newsletter is only about polishing YOUR image I don't really  
need it, nor will it be beneficial to anybody and (most probably) any  
cause
