[Individual-members-EL] Hello list

Peter,

Welcome. In England we have formed a network of individual members called
'The Left - European Left England'. We have a small website

www.theleft.org.uk

I have just asked Helmut Scholz one of Die Linke Executive Board members and
a member of the Secretariat to get the Executive Board to recognise 'ELE' as
an observor member of EL and invite us to meetings of the EB. The Italians
have done this. There are about 1000 of them. I think all indivdual member
groups in each country should do this. I know this is a national approach
but the idea is there will be so many of us as observors they will have to
think about a Europe wide body for us.

The EB in January was supposed to consider the matter of representation on
the EB for individual members following discussions we had at the Congress
in Prague in November. I have asked Helmut Scholz and the Brussels office
for a report. This is to put the pressure on. As Joe Hill said 'don't
waste time mourning organise'.

For the English comrades I'll do a report on the weekend about some talks
I've had about attempts to establish a 'progressive' list in the Greater
London Council elections supporting livingstone for Mayor but running a GLA
slate.

Bestest

Stephen Spence
