Dear Comrades,
I understand well that the priority for us is to bring new individual
members to EL. That's why I think that we shouldn't discuss too long time
about the practical organization of internet elections for representants.
Anyway I think as Jose that one or the other method has its own advantages
and difficulties but that one or the other could work.
It could be more useful to discuss now about the different means we have to
convince new people to join the party. Of course, our flyers are already a
good thing but I think that giving papers about some individual paths to
join the party is not enough. I think we should also explain what the EL
could bring, what the EL proposes. Therefore I think that the priority now
is to discuss about the convincing methods we could use to get new
individual members, to discuss about what of the propositons of the party we
should insist upon to attract new members. I just wrote some ideas, what do
you think about?
We should perhaps insist on the european aspect of the party explaining that
the EL wants something different that exists for the moment in EU: not an EU
of free trade and free circulation of capital but an EU of the european
people. It would mean changing the way of constructing the EU: construction
of a Social European Union (with European Minimal Wage, with European Public
Services, with European Social Security- health system, pension system- and
protective european working standards) . I know that in a way it exists
already on national level but we have to consider different things: it
disappears little by little in the context of European policies because of
the pressure of Maastricht criterions and some principles of the treaties
(also we have to think that in some of the 10 new countries members of the
EU, the social protection is really little). And because EU is getting more
and more importance in policies in the different EU countries it has to
change on European level. I know that it also means to build a significant
european budget, what is to say that we need to create european taxes and to
give more political power to the European Parliament.
Anyway, we should find a way to explain all this on a much more concrete
way, so that the people could see what would change in their dayly life if
they join the party or vote for the party, also we have to insist on the
fact that every citizen of EU would have a real political choice if we
success in developping an European Party (because the only policies changing
are possible on EU level). That's why I disagree with the mind of the French
Communist Party Ulrich spoke about: I think we should translate, print and
distribute the flyers and trying to convince people to enter the party also
in France... Anyway now the influence of the French Communist Party has
become too little and that's why its fear of being competeted by the EL is
unjusified, on the contrary speaking about the EL and its projects could be
useful for the French party to insist on the fact that its mind is also
shared on European level.
Greetings,
Joseph
