Der Streit um GVOs vor der WTO ist noch nicht beendet, <BR>
deshalb leite ich euch eine Mail von foe(friends of the earth)</FONT></FONT><FONT FACE="Verdana"> <FONT SIZE="2">weiter. <BR>
<BR>
Wie ihr vermutlich wisst,<BR>
hat die WTO ihren einstweiligen Entscheid im GVO-Streit <BR>
Anfang Februar den Streitparteien zugestellt.<BR>
<BR>
Die Klägergruppe hat nicht in allen Punkten <BR>
gegen die EU gewinnen können.<BR>
Allerdings hat sich die WTO teilweise an die Seite der USA und der Biotech-Konzerne gestellt, <BR>
indem sie erklärt, <BR>
nationale GVO-Verbote seien Handelsbarrieren und damit illegal;<BR>
europäische Vorschriften zu Verbraucher- und Umweltschutz werden dem Freihandel untergeordnet.<BR>
<BR>
Damit können sich die USA, Argentinien und Kanada <BR>
auf eine legale Forderung gegen die EU berufen.<BR>
Auf diesen Entscheid gestützt wollen uns Biotech-Konzerne den “Genuss” von GVO-Nahrung aufzwingen.<BR>

Das lassen wir uns nicht bieten! <BR>

</FONT><FONT FACE="Times New Roman"><BR>
</FONT><FONT SIZE="2"><FONT FACE="Arial">The World Trade Organisation (WTO) has released its provisional ruling on the GMO trade dispute to the countries involved. The ruling is a mixed bag. The US-led coalition failed to win many of their arguments against Europe.<BR>
</FONT></FONT><FONT FACE="Verdana"><BR>
</FONT><FONT FACE="Times New Roman"><BR>
</FONT><FONT SIZE="2"><FONT FACE="Arial">But the WTO has partly sided with the US and biotech companies, ruling that the European national GM bans are a barrier to free trade and WTO-illegal.<BR>
<BR>
The US, Argentina and Canada had filed a legal challenge at the WTO against the European Union. They claimed that EU measures to protect consumers and the environment from the risks posed by GM food and crops were blocking trade in GM products. <BR>
<BR>
This case is a desperate attempt by the biotech companies to force feed us to eat GM food. <BR>
