Attac Frankreich und etliche weitere Organisationen planen einen 
Internationalen Tag des Widerstands, wie der hiermit weitergeleiteten 
Mail zu entnehmen ist. Ich fände es wichtig, wenn dieser Aufruf breite 
Unterstützung fände.

Liebe KollegInnen!

Wie ich euch bereits einmal kurz geschrieben habe,
wird ein Internationaler Tag des Widerstands gegen
GVOs geplant. Vandana Shiva, Ignacio Chapela u.a.
haben offenbar bereits zugesagt mitzumachen. Kommenden
Freitag, am 21. findet in Paris ein Treffen statt bei
dem die Vorgehensweise geplant wird. 

Unten stehend findet ihr das erste Mail das ich von
Juan Roy de Menditte von Attac Frankreich bekommen
habe (letztes Mal hat das mit dem Forwarden leider
nicht funktioniert, wie ich mittlerweile draufgekommen
bin...)
Die aktuellen Informationen zum Stand der Dinge findet
ihr im Attachment (pdf).

Bitte beteiligt euch an diesem GMOpposition Day und
gebt die Information an die entscheidenden Stellen
auch außerhalb des deutschsprachigen Raums weiter.
Bitte informiert mich, ob ihr teilnehmt. Für Fragen

We are preparing a new Opposition Day.
Last time was, on the whole, a success in spite of
some
difficulty to mobilize people.
Now, we're planning to get an International
mobilization. People from USA, from India, from Japan,
from Africa, from South America and from countries in
Europe are ready to join us.
Vandana Shiva, Ignacio Chapela, Arpad Puzstaï,
Benjamin
Rifkin and some other important persons contacted us
to
participate.

GMOs continue to be a central social concern,
illustrative of
a world dominated by a few private interests.
 Despite the disagreement of 70% of European citizens,
the
Commission is ready to approve the trading of GM food
and
seeds, mostly exported by the USA through the WTO
regulation.
Not only may peasants and other farmers become
dependent
on
patented crops, but also public founds would have to
compensate for the lack of insurance coverage with
respect to
related health and environmental risks.
 With the coincidence of the Biotech Industry's Annual
Industry's Convention in Chicago and the European
Social
Forum (ESF) in Athens, a great opportunity could be
seized
upon. If the ESF Organizing Committee would
acknowledge
a GM
Opposition Day as part of its program, while US
activists are
setting up a demo in Chicago, in synergy with several
other
actions throughout the world, this would generate a
strong
signal towards the main decision-makers: both
politicians and
corporate shareholders. The ESF would then have the
opportunity to participate in a truly world-wide
action.
 Would it be possible to know if, at least in
principle,
the
ESF could be associated with the GM Opposition Day?
From
a
practical point of view, this could only mean:
focusing
one of
the sessions on GMOs (i.e.: on Saturday afternoon, the
8th of
April, that could be chosen world-wide as the "D" Day).

am 19./20.11.2005 findet in Frankfurt am Main die von der Versammlung sozialer Bewegungen verabredete Strategie- und Aktionskonferenz statt. Die Versammlung tagte im Anschluss an das 1. Sozialforum in Deutschland.<o:p></o:p>

Die Strategie- und Aktionskonferenz hat folgende Schwerpunkte:<o:p></o:p>

- Einschätzung der Situation nach der Bundestagswahl<o:p></o:p>

- Konkrete Projekte, mit denen wir in die zu erwartenden Konflikte gehen<o:p></o:p>



- Foren zu thematischen Schwerpunkten<o:p></o:p>

Ein Forum beschäftigt sich mit der Problematik „eine zukunftsfähige ökologische Gesellschaft“.<o:p></o:p>

- Verabredung zu gemeinsamen Aktionen. <o:p></o:p>

Was das Forum „eine zukunftsfähige ökologische Gesellschaft“ anbelangt, so soll zu vier Feldern diskutiert werden:<o:p></o:p>
