*CALL FOR MEMBERS OF FYEG Working Group on Gender*
FYEG - Federation of Young European Greens - is looking for young green
volunteers willing to take on the challenge of discussing and resolving
gender issues in FYEG's working group (WG) on gender issues.
The aim of the Gender WG is to continue the good work of the previous WG by
organising activities around the issue, starting discussions on different
related topics and evaluating the structures of FYEG regarding gender
equality and empowerment of women.
The main foci of the working group have been violence against women, Gender
and Climate Change and structural obstacles to women’s emancipation and
This year, we plan to have a working group meeting in Brussels to plan the
activities, to organise a seminar on Sexual and Reproductive Rights in Kenya
together with the Global Young Greens and the Kenya Young Greens, to arrange
activities about LGTBQ in Balkans to suppport the Prides in the region and
to have a study session on women in the labour market.
Members of the WG are also free and invited to take initiative on the issues
they would like to achieve as part of their activity in this group.
To join the WG on Gender or obtain more information, please send an email to
merja at fyeg.org not later than *31st of May 2011*. Please include a
motivation letter where you explain your motivation to join and an official
recommendation letter from the National board of your organisation.
Please make sure that you include:
- Email address
- Home address
- Phone number
- Date and place of birth
*What are working groups? *
Working groups are FYEGs think tanks according to FYEGs Internal Rules of
Procedure. They gather groups of FYEG members who would like to work on a
particular topic: gather knowledge, examine cases, lobby for solutions. WGs
will be given a mailing list. The members also communicate via Wiki and
arranged meetings and activities.
Working groups can be seen as places for internal discussion, but they can
also serve other needs: prepare activities for FYEG to carry out, train own
and other members, propose resolutions for the federation and share best
practices between the member organisations.
We are looking forward to working and having fun with you!
Waiting for your applications,
Merja Kähkönen, merja at fyeg.org
FYEG Coordinator of the WG on Gender issues
