Beyond EU Citizenship

Two seminars, various opinions, more inspiration to take action!

What: “Beyond EU Citizenship” - GEF seminar with support of FYEG^^1

Where: Paris, France

When: 19-22 May, 2011

When to apply: NOW! Deadline – 6th March

/EU Roma that get expelled from France or Italy. Populists blaming 
Europe for blocking restrictive immigration. The Polish plumber that has 
the right to work in Germany, but not the right for social security. And 
what about the right to work of the German plumber? Students and 
businessmen traveling without borders, uneducated people feeling lost. 
Who benefits, and who suffers?/

What do you think about this? Do you think that European citizenship is 
a vague concept? And what about minorities? What do greens think? What 
can we do?

Green European Foundation (GEF)with the support of Federation of Young 
European Greens (FYEG) organizestwoseminars in order to educate and find 
solutions around the problematic questions of the EU citizenship 
concept. The first out of two - "Beyond EU citizenship"- will be hosted 
by the local organization in Paris, France, from 19 to 22 of May.

The seminar intends to focus on:


      European identity (in the conservative and green variants)


      the concept of European citizenship and its future


      European minorities (with special focus on Roma (biggest european
      minority) and migrants)


      inclusion of the minorities into the political processes




      regional minority-realities in Europe

All of these questions will be explained and learned during the academic 
sessions, brainstorming, role games and group discussions.

The main aims of the seminar are to:


      Go beyond the current concept of the European citizenship, show
      the green point of view


      Reach solutions for minorities inclusion (with a special focus on
      the Roma minority)


      Enhance Youth participation in the political debates on discrimination
