*Call for partners!*

FYEG, the Federation of Young European Greens, in cooperation with the
Austrian Young Greens -- GAJ -- is organising a *seminar*from the
19th-25^th September 2011. It will take place in Vienna, Austria and its
topic will be *Intersectionality*.

For more details, see below:

*What is the Gender Working Group?*

The FYEG Gender Working Group is a group of people who are motivated and
interested to work on gender-related issues. If you want more
information, please contact Terry: terry at fyeg.org

*What is the topic?*

The overall topic is Intersectionality under the title

"/Intersections of oppression -- Analysing power relations and finding
ways to fight them"/

During this seminar we want to address three different, but interrelated
issues at the same time: Social, Racial and Gender inequality.

Especially theories around the concept of intersectionality with roots
in Black feminist thought try to analyse these issues together in order
to give a more comprehensive view on what divides people in our
societies. By having a holistic vision of systems of dominance it is
then easier to discuss possible strategies for resistance.

The seminar could be divided into an academic and more practical part
where people are encouraged to reflect upon their own positions in this
system of oppression.

*Aims/Objectives: *

Showing the intersections between class, race and gender as the main
systems of dominance within Western societies.

Giving input/advice on practical consequences for working in an
intercultural environment (anti-racist/anti-sexist training)

Showing instruments how problems of racism/sexisms can be tackled in
youth organisations

Building capacities for MOs to include more people

*Conditions:*

Every partner organisation has to chose one group leader and 3 to 5
participants. The participants HAVE TO BE YOUNGER THAN 26! The group
leader can be older. The partner doesn't have to fulfill any financial
conditions but should be aware that the travel costs of the participants
and the group leader to the youth exchange will only be reimbursed up to
70%. You might want to consider covering the rest of the amount by means
of your organisation; FYEG has no means to do so.

The group leader needs to attend a preparatory meeting one or two month
before the exchange. For this meeting her/his travel costs will be
reimbursed a 100%.

The group leader and participants need to be chosen in a democratic and
open way and the group needs to be gender balanced. All participants and
group leaders need a basic command over English; we won't have
translations at the event.

*Practicalities:*

The seminar will take place in Vienna, the capital of Austria. The
seminar will be hosted by the Austrian Young Greens -- GAJ. This still
needs to be confirmed.
