<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">Polarization, disinformation, lack of access to information, and lack of physical and financial safety for journalists and media houses - these and other challenges are reported by journalists interviewed for a study.
 The results of the study are now published in the discussion paper "<a href="https://akademie.dw.com/en/georgia-media-freedom-in-decline/a-65076202">Georgia - Media freedom in decline</a>”.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">The study, conducted in October and November 2022, combines in-depth interviews with 15 Georgian journalists with quantitative data collected through a questionnaire. A total of 64 media professionals participated in
 the survey.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">The journalists not only report on the challenges, but also point to opportunities for concrete support of the Georgian media sector and individual media companies by international media development organizations. These
 include advocacy, financial support and promoting media houses through training.
