First of all I wish you a happy new year 2020!

With the start of the new year I am happy to finally announce that we are now online with our website of the research center “Entwicklungskommunikation – Communication for Social Change” (EC4SC).

https://www.sozphil.uni-leipzig.de/en/entwicklungskommunikation/

As the whole web presence of the University of Leipzig was changed last year, the process took much longer than expected.
Now that we are online, you can find further information about the centre and the projects.

The central question of the research centre EC4SC is how communication can be used to promote a societal transformation towards a sustainable society.
We developed three focus areas: In order to make the configuration accessible to all, one focus is on making the existing structures of these negotiation processes
in the media and the institutions more participative and on opening these up, especially for marginalised groups.
In the focus empowerment and ownership, we are especially concerned with motivating people to express their issues by increasing the responsibility of the citizen and to enable them to participate.
Of course, conflicts are not inevitable in negotiation processes. This is why we have adopted mediation as the third focus of the centre.
The aim is to mediate between the various concerns and perspectives in order to ensure successful communication.
In all three areas the question will be which structures promote and which hinder participation, empowerment and mediation.

In order to enforce the cooperation between science and praxisfield, the centre is divided into research, education and transfer.
Transfer is especially important as our aim is thus to strengthen the cooperation between science and (civil) society.

Warm greetings from Leipzig,
Sincerely,
Kefa Hamidi

Forschungszentrum Entwicklungskommunikation - Communication for Social Change (EC4SC)
