They should be a
trusted source of news and provide impartial information to
enable citizens to
make informed decisions. While Public Service Media should be
independent, the
rise of populism across Europe exposes them to political
interference.<br>

Join the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF) in
Budapest as we discuss ways to protect Public Service Media, and
to
ultimately preserve press and media freedom in Europe. We look
forward to
welcoming speakers from across Europe – amongst them <strong><span

To give you a preview of what we have lined up: Besides hearing
case studies
from different European countries, <strong><span

Mong</span></strong> (CPJ) will moderate a session on the
infiltration of
Public Service Media in the region, and whether this has a
domino effect. We
will see an interview with the broadcasting programme director <strong><span
style="font-family:"Raleway",sans-serif">Jan
Schulte Kellinghaus</span></strong>
(RBB/ARD, Germany). You will have the chance to listen to what
Budapest’s new
mayor, <strong><span
style="font-family:"Raleway",sans-serif">Gergely
Karácsony,</span></strong> plans to do to support free
media. And <strong><span
style="font-family:"Raleway",sans-serif">Judit
Bayer</span></strong> (Hungary)
will moderate a discussion with experts and <strong><span

műsorszolgáltatást, amit a <i>közfinanszírozás</i>
is indokol. Miközben a közszolgálati média függetlensége
alapérték, a
populizmus európai előretörése sérülékenyebbé teheti a
tartalom-előállítókat
politikai nyomásgyakorlás esetén. Vitassuk meg együtt
Budapesten, hogy miként
lehet megerősíteni a közszolgálati médiát és megőrizni a sajtó
szabadságát
