<p><b>Workshop "How to keep your data safe when travelling abroad"<br>
</b></p>
Before and after the <a
href="https://ecpmf.eu/events/game-changer-digitalmediafreedom-leipzig">ECPMF
Game Changer conference</a> we offer an additional, repeated,
hands-on, free workshop for journalists and media freedom activists.
It explores ways to defend our sources, contacts and journalistic
material when technology impacts on our civil liberties, our rights,
and our autonomy. The <b>Tactical Technology Collective</b> is a
non-profit organisation that’s been responding to these shifts for
the past 15 years by finding practical solutions for a global
network of activists, citizens and tech experts.<br

<p>The workshop <b>"How to keep your data safe when travelling
abroad" </b>will teach <b>practical methods of digital
security</b>, for example how to protect data held on digital
devices when crossing national borders and what to do when the
authorities demand access to cell phones, laptops et. al. for any
reason. It will introduce protective software tools and explain
the legal framework for dealing with tricky scenarios - for
instance travelling to the US or participating in a demonstration.
The hands-on workshop will mix teaching with interactive elements
and discussions.<br>

<p><b></b>Vor und nach unserer <a
href="https://ecpmf.eu/events/game-changer-digitalmediafreedom-leipzig">GAME
CHANGER conference</a> am 28 und 29. Mai bieten wir einen
zusätzlichen, sich wiederholenden, praktischen Workshop für
Journalisten und Medienfreiheits-Aktivisten an. Die Teilnahme ist
kostenlos. Darin geht es um Mittel und Wege zur Verteidigung von
Quellen, Kontakten und Recherche-Material, wenn moderne
Technologie unsere Bürgerrechte, Freiheit und Unabhängigkeit zu
beschneiden droht. Das <b><i>Tactical Technology Collective</i></b>
ist eine NGO, die seit mittlerweile 15 Jahren auf diese
Veränderungen reagiert und nach praktischen Lösungen für ein
globales Netzwerk von Bürgern, Aktivisten und Tech-Experten sucht.
</p>
<p>Der <b>Workshop "How to keep your data safe when travelling
abroad"</b> zeigt <b>praktische Methoden der digitalen
Sicherheit</b>, unter anderem wie Daten auf digitalen Geräten zu
schützen sind, wenn Landesgrenzen übertreten werden und was zu tun
ist, wenn die Staatsgewalt das Aushändigen des Mobiltelefons oder
Laptops verlangt. Im Workshop wird unter anderem Schutz-Software
vorgestellt und auch der rechtliche Rahmen besprochen für
komplizierte Situationen wie zum Beispiel die Einreise in die USA,
um an einer Demonstration teilzunehmen. Der Workshop mischt
Theorie mit Praxis und Diskussion.</p>

the new dawn of opportunities. It seems safe to say that it is
hard to keep track with technologies of the digital age, let
alone work with them in a safe and professional way. The
European Centre for Press and Media Freedom brings together
policy makers, academics, journalists, citizens and technology
experts to discuss challenges and opportunities of new digital
developments for the purpose of securing media freedom. <br>

<p>We are pleased to announce Nani Jansen Reventlow, Director of
the Digital Freedom Fund as keynote speaker. Before and after
the conference we offer a 2h hands-on workshop for journalists
and all interest media freedom activists on digital security and
self-defense.<br>
