<P style="TEXT-ALIGN: center" class=MsoNormal align=center><B>Jubiläumsprogramm vom 20. bis 30. September 2012</B></P>
<P class=MsoNormal> </P>
<P class=MsoNormal>85 Spiel- und Dokumentarfilme, politische Videos, Kurz-, Experimental- und Animationsfilme aus 20 Ländern Afrikas, darunter zahlreiche Deutschland-Premieren, sowie 20 Gäste, die aus Kairo, Casablanca, Dakar, Kapstadt, Paris, Genf, Wien und Berlin anreisen – das bietet das Programm des Jubiläumsfestivals <B>Jenseits von Europa XII </B>von FilmInitiativ Köln e.V. vom 20. bis 30. September 2012. Dazu gehört die Präsentation der Preisträger des FESPACO in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), dem weltweit bedeutendsten Festival des afrikanischen Kinos.</P>
<P class=MsoNormal> </P>
<P class=MsoNormal>Mit <B>Mohamed Mouftakir</B> wurde dort 2011 ein marokkanischer Regisseur mit dem Hauptpreis bedacht, dem „Étalon d’or de Yennenga“, der seinen Film <B>Pégase</B> über traumatische Folgen von Missbrauch beim Kölner Festival vorstellen wird. Auch der Eröffnungsfilm in Köln <B>Death for sale </B>über drei jugendliche Gauner kommt aus Marokko und mit dem Regisseur <B>Faouzi Bensaidi</B> ist ein Vertreter der marokkanischen „Nouvelle Vague“ nach Köln eingeladen.</P>
<P class=MsoNormal>Der algerische Beitrag <B>Garagouz</B>, der beim FESPACO als bester Kurzfilm ausgezeichnet wurde, erzählt die Geschichte eines Puppenspielers, der sich mit korrupten Polizisten und religiösen Fanatikern auseinandersetzen muss. </P>
<P class=MsoNormal> </P>
<P class=MsoNormal>Der aus Benin stammende <B>Idrissou Mora Kpai</B> wird in Köln seinen Film <B>Indochine – sur les traces d’une mère </B>präsentieren, der beim FESPACO 2011 den Dokumentarfilmpreis gewann. Der Film erinnert an die 60.000 afrikanischen Kolonialsoldaten, die für Frankreich im Vietnamkrieg kämpfen mussten. </P>
<P class=MsoNormal> </P>
<P class=MsoNormal>In zwei Veranstaltungen geht es um die aktuellen Situationen in Tunesien und Ägypten. Die tunesische Regisseurin <B>Nadia El Fani </B>wird ihren neuen Film <B>Même pas mal</B> beim Festival zur Diskussion stellen. Darin dokumentiert sie die Angriffe und Todesdrohungen fanatischer Islamisten, denen sie aufgrund ihres letzten Films <B>Laïcité inch’Allah </B>ausgesetzt ist, in dem sie für eine säkulare tunesische Gesellschaft plädiert. <B>Jasmina Metwaly</B> und <B>Philip Rizk </B>vom<B> </B>Medienkollektiv <B>Mosireen</B> aus Kairo sind eingeladen, Videos über die aktuellen politischen Auseinandersetzungen in Ägypten rund um die Präsidentschaftswahl vorzustellen. </P>
<P class=MsoNormal>Überwiegend aus Ägypten kommen auch die meisten Produktionen des Kurzfilmprogramms <B>African Shorts: Nordafrika</B>. </P>
<P class=MsoNormal>Das Festival bietet darüber hinaus drei weitere <B>Kurzfilmschienen</B> mit Produktionen junger FilmmacherInnen <B>aus Ostafrika, </B>zu <B>Frauen in Nord- Westafrika</B> und mit preisgekrönten <B>Kurzspielfilmen</B> von Kamerun über Kenia bis nach Südafrika. </P>
<P class=MsoNormal><B> </B></P>
<P class=MsoNormal><B>Das aktuelle Kino Südafrikas </B></P>
<P class=MsoNormal>Die zur Zeit des Apartheid Regimes von Weißen kontrollierte südafrikanische Filmindustrie ist in den letzten zwei Jahrzehnten der ANC-Regierung auch für schwarze RegisseurInnen zugänglich geworden und offen für Sujets, die bis dato tabuisiert waren. </P>
<P class=MsoNormal>So entlarvt der Spielfilm <B>Skoonheid</B> auf dramatische Weise die Doppelmoral der Buren, die bis heute zu leugnen versuchen, dass es auch in ihren gut bürgerlichen weißen Familien Homosexuelle gibt. Der Spielfilm <B>Lucky</B> zeigt, welche Vorbehalte es auch in den aus Indien stammenden Communities in Südafrika gegenüber Menschen mit schwarzer Hautfarbe gibt. Und <B>Otelo burning </B>dürfte der erste Surfer-Film sein, in dem nicht weiße, sondern schwarze Kids und politischer Widerstand im Mittelpunkt stehen. </P>
<P class=MsoNormal>Dass auch RegisseurInnen aus anderen Regionen Afrikas herausragende Spielfilme realisieren, belegen u.a. die Beispiele <B>Atletu</B> über die tragische Lebensgeschichte des äthiopischen Marathonläufers und Olympiasiegers Abebe Bikila und <B>Por aqui todo bem</B> über minderjährige Flüchtlinge aus Angola, die wegen des dort geführten Bürgerkriegs in Lissabon landeten. Den ersten wird Ko-Regisseur <B>Derryn Welch</B> in Köln vorstellen, den zweiten die aus Angola stammende Regisseurin </P>
<P class=MsoNormal><B>Maria Esperança (Pocas) Pascoal. </B></P>
<P class=MsoNormal><B> </B></P>
<P class=MsoNormal><B>Moussa Sene Absa</B> aus Senegal, einer der bedeutendsten Regisseure Westafrikas, kommt im September von Dakar nach Köln, Bonn und Freiburg, um seinen Dokumentarfilm <B>Yoole</B> vorzustellen – eine Spurensuche nach der Herkunft senegalesischer Flüchtlinge, die auf dem Atlantik umkamen und deren Leichen in einem Boot in der Karibik angeschwemmt wurden. </P>
<P class=MsoNormal> </P>
<P class=MsoNormal>Die Algerierin Yasmina Adi zeigt in Köln ihren Dokumentarfilm <B>Ici on noie les Algériens – 17 octobre 1961</B>, der an ein Massaker erinnert, das die französische Polizei 1961 mitten in Paris an algerischen SympathisantInnen der Befreiungsbewegung FLN verübte.<SPAN></SPAN></P>

<P class=MsoNormal><SPAN>Weitere Highlights des Kölner Festivalsprogramms sind eine Filmreihe zu Rassismus in Deutschland und Frankreich, ein Doppelprogramm zur Rolle Chinas in Afrika, eine Kooperationsveranstaltung mit dem afrikanischen Theaterfestival <B>africologne</B> und <B>zwei lange Musiknächte</B> zu Hip Hop und Punk in Afrika mit Live-Musik und<SPAN> </SPAN>Jubiläumsparty. </SPAN></P>
