But you got to be motivated. We throw away stories that would make careers in the US or Europe. If you want to work on international money laundering, Russian organized crime, Ukrainian corruption, sovereign crime and failed states, the criminal services industry, the globalization of illicit networks – basically the toughest stories in the toughest place to work them – this is your job. But the most rewarding aspect is you get to work with the best regional journalists. It might restore your faith in our profession as it has restored mine. In some countries like the UK and the US, journalism is about quality of life issues.
