derzeit über Reformen der Mediengesetzgebung, und im Zuge dessen verhärten sich
die Fronten zwischen linken Regierungen und Medienunternehmern zunehmend. Im
Zentrum steht die Frage der Presse- und Informationsfreiheit als elementare
Voraussetzung für Demokratie. Doch während die einen die staatliche Regulierung
der Medien für notwendig halten, um eine pluralistische Partizipation der
breiten Bevölkerung in den Medien zu gewährleisten, sehen die anderen staatliche
Vorgaben grundsätzlich als Angriff auf die Pressefreiheit. Der Ausgang dieses
Konflikts ist offen. <o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>

style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; mso-ansi-language: DE">Unter dem Titel „Macht der
Medien oder Medien der Macht? – Pressefreiheit in Lateinamerika“ lädt die
Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung zu einer internationalen Fachkonferenz ein, auf der wir
die Konfliktlinien aufzeigen und der Frage nachgehen möchten, wie eine
pluralistische Medienlandschaft gestaltet werden kann. Welche Gesetze bzw.
Gesetzesvorhaben gibt es derzeit? Bewirken die Reformen eine Demokratisierung
der Medien? Und warum sind die Fronten zwischen den privaten Medien und den
neuen linken Regierungen so verhärtet?<o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>

Veranstaltung findet am Dienstag, den 05. April 2011, im <A

Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung</A> in Berlin statt, Beginn ist um 13:45 Uhr
(siehe Programm anbei). An die Fachtagung schließt sich am Abend eine
öffentliche Podiumsdiskussion an. Beide Veranstaltungen werden Spanisch –
