europaweit am stärksten von Diskriminierung betroffene Minderheit – dies hat
zuletzt eine Studie der Europäischen Grundrechteagentur (FRA) von 2009 gezeigt.
Rund drei Viertel der etwa acht bis zwölf Millionen Roma leben in Ost- und
Südosteuropa.</SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN
style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Verdana','sans-serif'; FONT-SIZE: 10pt"></SPAN><SPAN
style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Verdana','sans-serif'; FONT-SIZE: 10pt">Angesichts des
europaweiten Antiziganismus setzt die EU bislang darauf, Roma in ihren
Partizipationsmöglichkeiten zu stärken. Zahlreiche lokale Initiativen und
überregionale Projekte werden im Zuge dieser Anstrengungen durch die EU
gefördert. Außerdem unterzeichneten zwölf EU-Länder im Jahr 2005 die „Decade of
Roma Inclusion, 2005-2015“ („Roma-Dekade“), die von der Weltbank und der EU
gefördert wird. Darin verpflichteten sie sich, ihre Bemühungen zur Beseitigung
der Diskriminierung der Roma zu verstärken.</SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN
style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Verdana','sans-serif'; FONT-SIZE: 10pt"></SPAN><SPAN
style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Verdana','sans-serif'; FONT-SIZE: 10pt">Die Bilanz zur
Halbzeit der Dekade fällt teilweise ernüchternd aus: </SPAN><SPAN
style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Verdana','sans-serif'; FONT-SIZE: 10pt; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial">In
Ungarn, das mit den Parlamentswahlen im Mai 2010 einen Rechtsruck erlebt hat,
sind Roma der Diskriminierung und Gewalt besonders ausgesetzt. Im vergangenen
Jahr gab es landesweit eine Serie von Morden an Roma. Berichte über die
grausamen Brandanschläge in der Ortschaft Tatárszentgyörgy gingen durch die
internationale Presse. </SPAN><SPAN
style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Verdana','sans-serif'; FONT-SIZE: 10pt">Wenn Ungarn 2011
die EU-Ratspräsidenschaft übernimmt, bleibt die Frage, welche Folgen dies für
die weitere Roma-Politik der EU haben wird.</SPAN></P>

ebenso auf dem Programm wie Treffen und Rundtisch-Gespräche mit Vertretern aus
