Estimadas y estimados colegas:
Recientemente han sucedido muchas cosas en el panorama mediático latinoamericano. El contexto está cambiando, marcado por la inestabilidad política, el aumento del autoritarismo y la creciente polarización. Los periodistas siguen sufriendo ataques por sus reportajes independientes. Los recortes en la financiación para el desarrollo de medios han sido especialmente dolorosos.
En este contexto, nos complace invitarte a un conversatorio del Think Tank DW Freedom de la DW Akademie para compartir los resultados del informe regional de América Latina, que forma parte de la serie de informes Estado del desarrollo de los medios 2026.
En esta edición se abordarán las siguientes cuestiones: ¿cómo ha reaccionado el sector del desarrollo de medios ante los recortes de financiación?, ¿qué ha pasado con el principio de transferir más responsabilidades y autonomías a las organizaciones nacionales y locales? y ¿cómo se están adaptando las organizaciones de desarrollo de medios a los cambios políticos y técnicos (por ejemplo, la inteligencia artificial)?

a lot has happened over the past year in the Latin American media landscape. The context is shifting, marked by political instability, rising authoritarianism and increasing polarization. Journalists are still being targeted for their independent reporting. It is in this context that the funding cuts in media development have been particularly painful.
We invite you to a webinar by DW Akademie’s think tank DW Freedom to the launch of the Latin America regional report as part of the 2026 State of Media Development report series. The focus for this edition: How has the media development sector reacted to the funding cuts? What has become of the principle to boost local ownership? How are media development organizations adapting to changes, not just political but also technical (think: AI)?
