[FoME] DW Akademie: Applications for the International Media Studies master’s program are now open!

We are happy to announce that the application phase for the International Media Studies program is now open.

The master's program International Media Studies is specifically designed for graduates from developing and transition countries with previous media experience. As a joint project of the University of Bonn, the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences and Deutsche Welle, the program offers an excellent learning environment for up to 30 students per year.



Since its launch in 2009, over 260 students from 68 countries have successfully completed the master's program at DW Akademie, Germany’s leading organization for international media development.

Applications for the 15th intake of the master’s program International Media Studies, starting in September 2024, are now open until the 29th February 2024.



Wide range of topics and media industry challenges

The interdisciplinary study program is conducted in English, combining topics such as media and development, journalism, communication science and media management.

The full-time, four-semester master’s degree offers an unparalleled mix of research, lectures and practical experience and prepares students for careers in the communications and media industries. Students conclude the course with a master’s thesis and receive a Master of Arts degree.



Admission requirements

Applicants must have completed a bachelor's degree or equivalent and have at least one year's media experience after obtaining their first degree. They must also provide proof of advanced English language skills.

Highly qualified candidates from developing and emerging countries can apply for a scholarship and will complete the degree in their home countries.
