Ladies and Gentlemen, dear colleagues!

Encouraged by the reactions of many participants of our online panel last
week, who suggested a continuation of this exchange and debate, we are glad
to extend to you an invitation to yet another online discussion with
outstanding Sudanese media personalities.

This online-event will take place today,
Date and Time: *Wednesday, the 3rd of May 2023 at 4pm CET
(Berlin/Khartoum).*

We are grateful that *Mohamed Abdelaziz, Secretary General of the Sudanese
Journalists Union*, has agreed to give us an update from Khartoum about the
situation on the ground, especially with regard to recent threats from army
publications against journalists a well as *Faisal Saleh,* former *Minister
of Culture and Media*. Moreover, we are confident that Ahmed Gouja - a
freelance videographer and human rights monitor who has been tirelessly
reporting about the current escalation of violence in Western Sudan - may
once again join us from Nyala in South Darfur.

Due to the fluidity of the situation in Sudan, others may join the panel on
short notice.

The discussion will be moderated by Roman Deckert, who has worked on and in
Sudan since 1997.

About us in Sudan: MiCT has collaborated with a wide range of stakeholders
in Sudan since 2009, including journalists, political parties, musicians,
environmentalists, academics, civil society activists, and wikipedians. As
part of this work, we worked with some remarkable Sudanese musicians,
including Majzoub Onsa, to create a music video that called for free and
fair elections during the 2010 elections - a milestone in Sudan's political
history, as it marked the first time in 25 years that democratic elections
were held in the country.

We look forward to welcoming you and your input!

Sincerely,

Klaas Glenewinkel and Roman Deckert
