Dear members of the FOME-List,

we would like to invite you to the upcoming event by DW Akademie on April 28th and 29th. On those days we will discuss and present the development of an exiting digital toolbox made for and co-created with community media outlets from the Global South.

Due to ongoing Corona restrictions on-site participation is quite limited but if one of you should be in Berlin and wants to engage with our guests and co-creators directly, just let me know. Otherwise, hope to see you online.

Kind regards,

Nils

INVITATION: Online panel discussion on April 28, 2022:
“Celebrating Colmena – Crisis-proof reporting for local media with a new open source software”

In times of crisis, viable information saves lives. But how can we ensure that local media sustain their reporting in challenging times?

DW Akademie, together with its Mexican partner organization REDES A.C., is launching Colmena – an open-source solution for local and community media.

For this reason, we would like to cordially invite you to our online discussion

“Celebrating Colmena – Crisis-proof reporting for local media with a new open source software”.

The event will take place on April 28, 2022, 18.00 CEST on Zoom (Guatemala: 10:00; Colombia, Mexico, Ecuador and Peru: 11:00; Bolivia and Venezuela: 12:00; Brazil: 13:00; Burkina Faso and Ghana: 16:00; Kenya: 19:00). It will be held in English with simultaneous translations in Spanish, French and German.

Together with our international experts, journalists and community reporters from around the world, we want to discuss the role local media play in times of crisis, about access to information and digital rights especially for rural populations, as well as how a digital solution like Colmena can be a game changer in keeping communities informed.
