MiCT – Media in Cooperation and Transition is a Berlin based non-profit
organisation that implements media development projects in crisis
regions. Activities focus on the interplay between conflict, media
coverage and reconciliation. MiCT’s services comprise the training of
journalists and media producers, programme and content development,
radio and film production, magazine and book publishing, as well as
media research and monitoring in conflict regions.

Through its activities, MiCT aims to foster the transformation of
conflict towards reconciliation, and encourage dialogue among
conflicting factions within society. The focal point is the interaction
and interdependence of media and conflict. Supporting media cooperation,
media networking and media development, as well as capacity building in
the field of journalism is recognized as the key factor in conflict
transition.

*MiCT is looking for a PROJECT MANAGER (Berlin, full time)

Main tasks: The Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring
successful implementation of donor funded media development projects in
the MENA region with a specific focus on Iraq. S/he will be responsible
for providing leadership, content and administrative oversight and
ensuring direct management of all activities related to the project(s).

Project management
- Ensure proper and timely implementation of all project activities
- Risk and mitigation management
- Report on progress of activities to MiCT managing director and to donors
- Selection of and engagement with international trainers, coaches,
experts, and consultants
- Organize project-related conferences and meetings

Team and partner management
- Lead the project team consisting of team members in Berlin and the
project country(s)
- Manage and include the team's expertise in the design and
implementation of all activities
- Support and control the local team members in planning and
implementation of activities
- Engage with intern / external M&E experts around monitoring and
evaluation processes

Project development
- Monitor and analyse current development in the region, particularly in
the media sector
- Present the project at conferences and meetings
- Assess needs of local partners and project participants
- Participate in MiCTs project development and proposal writing processes

Project and finance administration
- Responsible for budget planning and monitoring
- Responsible for continuous budget / expenditure comparison
- Coordinate all project related contracts and procurement issues with
finance department
- Control and approve external invoices


Requirements:
- University degree (Masters or equiv.) in social studies, politics,
humanities, law, media & communication studies or related field
- At least 5 (five) years of work experience in project management
- Experience in donor funded developments projects (in particular
European Union, German Ministries, and UN Organizations) is a distinct
advantage
- Willingness to do organizational work (logistical, technical, conceptual)
- Strong interest in media development, promotion of journalism, freedom
of the press, media financing and related topics
- Regional experience in the MENA region, ideally Iraq
- Willingness to travel to the project countries
- Excellent oral and written English skills; knowledge of Arabic and /
or German is a distinct advantage
- Very good MS Office skills
- German citizenship or valid work permit for Germany

This is a full time position at MiCT’s Berlin Office. Preferred starting
date is October 1st or 15th, 2020, initially for a limited period of six
months. MiCT is aiming for longer-term employment beyond this period.
