The Media Legal Defence Initiative, a unique international charity that helps defend the rights of journalists, independent media and bloggers, is looking for an experienced lawyer with excellent litigation skills and a good understanding of the international law of freedom of expression to fill the position of Legal Director. This is an exciting opportunity to undertake responsibility for a critical role in a dynamic and growing organisation.

As the Legal Director, you will be leading MLDI's legal strategies and our day-to-day legal defence work, working closely with MLDI partners and lawyers contracted by MLDI for individual cases. You will play a key role in strategy development and deputise for the CEO as and when appropriate.

The organisation is small so we are looking for someone who is a natural self-starter, with a flexible, proactive, hands-on approach and first class interpersonal skills.
