Better Practice for Social Change
A Webinar Series

What?

Four leading institutions in participatory video (PV) and web-based communication have come together to organise a global series of blended face-to-face and online workshops where researchers, activists and development workers will: 
Share better practices in PV for positive and lasting change 
Learn about PV as a tool for change and as a research methodology 
Explore avenues for improving collective practice in PV (including open access learning resources) 
Enrich networks and build greater quality, ethical practice and effective training in PV 

Why?

To develop capacity in PV, build networks for change and develop a comprehensive training curriculum for researchers, facilitators, community activists and community-led video.

Where and when?

The webinars will be organised online, with participants from all over the world, between May 2014 and January 2015.

Areas of application?

Research, natural resource management, climate change, community development, education, health and social services, mobile technologies, gender and social justice.

Who can participate?
Existing PV practitioners 
People interested in using PV as a tool for positive change 
Researchers using PV as a research methodology or studying PV 
Researchers interested in learning about PV as a research methodology 

What will you gain?
A journey into PV in practice and an opportunity to collectively develop better practice in the field 
Connection with a global network of PV practitioners, researchers and grassroots workers to build strategic relationships 
A certificate for those who attend all the six online events

Participatory Video is a set of techniques to involve a group or community in shaping and creating their own film, making video easy and accessible and bringing people together to explore issues, voice concerns or simply to be creative and tell stories. This process enables a group or community to take collective action to effectively address issues that are important to them and to communicate their ideas to decision-makers and/or other groups and communities.
