Trying to understand filter syntax

It works for me:
$ arbtt-stats -f '$date >= 2017-07-01 && $date < 2017-07-02'

(this is version 0.9.0.13). Which version are you using?

Maybe some strange shell doing unexpected quoting (although '…' should work…)?
